1. Marian Markets

When: Sunday, February 16, 8am

Where: Anzac Ave, Marian

What’s happening: Head to the first Marian market of the year, sure to be packed with people browsing for a bargain. A variety of stalls selling plants, books, craft, orchids, homemade cakes and baked good and other knick-knacks. The kitchen will be open selling food and drinks.

 

2. Queensland Country Water Polo Championships

When: Friday, February 14, 10am – Sunday, February 16, 6pm

Where: Mackay Aquatic and Recreation Complex, Boundary Rd, Mackay

What’s happening: This free event gives senior country teams and players from regional areas an opportunity to play for the Queensland championship trophy.

Helping to deliver the event is Mackay Water Polo and Mackay Regional Council.

The tournament is also vital for the selection for 2020 Queensland Country Men’s and Women‘s teams to compete at the National Country Championships. For more information and game times, head to www.waterpoloqld.com.au.

 

3. Valentine’s Spanish Paella Night assisting the Bushfire Appeal

When: Friday, February 14, 6pm – 12am

Where: Don Daniel’s Bar Tapas, River St, Mackay

What’s happening: Celebrate love and friendship on Valentine’s night with Don Daniel’s paella night. Enjoy a delicious Spanish paella, complementary glass of sangria or champagne, a chocolate fountain, live music, games and Latin dance performances. Couples and groups welcome. 4. River Street Twilight Market

When: Friday, February 14, 4pm – 8pm

Where: River St, near Bluewater Quay, Mackay

What’s happening: Enjoy a romantic stroll through the Twilight Market’s this Valentine’s Day. Featuring live entertainment on the main stage and a huge range of food vendors including Mexican, pizza, dumplings, waffles and more. A range of different stallholders will be there selling local food and homemade goods.

5. The Beaches Wedding Expo

When: Sunday, February 16, 10am – 2pm

Where: Mackay Northern Beaches Bowls Club, 2 Rosewood Drive, Rural View

What’s happening: Featuring wedding exhibitors from Mackay and the Whitsundays, this is the perfect event to attend with your friends if you have an upcoming wedding. Enjoy the exciting atmosphere as you browse beautiful displays, watch a fashion parade and chat to stallholders under the marquee.

Sonya Brazil 20th Anniversary Women‘s Only Charity Triathlon

When: Sunday, February 16, 6am – 11am

Where: Mirani Swimming Centre, Caroline St, Mirani

Friday Sun. Sets featuring Will Blume

When: Friday, February 14, 6pm – 9pm

Where: WakeHouse Cable Park, Michigan Way, Mackay

What’s happening: Enjoy Valentine’s Day watching the sunset over the lake. With a chilled set from musician Will Blume and casual dinner and drinks, this event makes for the perfect date night. Beverages served until 9pm.

 

Valentine’s Disco

When: Saturday, February 15, 5pm – 10pm

Where: Mackay PCYC, Norris Rd, North Mackay

What’s happening: Hosted by S.N. A. G. S (special ne and supports group), this is an all-inclusive disco event with music and dancing. Dress-up is welcome and food and drinks are available for purchase. Gold-coin donation entry. For more information, phone 0419 731 751.

 

Adults Waterpainting Workshop

When: Sunday, February 16, 9am – 11am

Where: Vintage Kiss, Melba House, Marian

What’s happening: Hosted by Vintage Kiss, this adult’s waterpainting workshop will be run by Kylie Ferriday Art. Learn painting techniques and take home a beautiful piece of work that you can keep and frame. Price is $89 and includes supplies, a drink and snack. The theme of the workshop is ‘under the sea’. Sugar City Rock n Roll Social Dance

When: Saturday, February 15, 6.30pm – 11pm

Where: St Patrick’s Hall, River St, Mackay

What’s happening: Enjoy a night full of dancing and fun at this social dance. With a live band playing on the night, dress up in old-school outfits and rock the night away. All are encouraged to bring a plate of food to share. Cost is $12 for members and $15 for non-members.

 

Fall in Love with Photography Workshop

When: Sunday, February 16, 10am – 3pm

Where: Mackay Harbour

What’s happening: Join trainer Adrian Matthiassen for this one-day course teaching you how to use your digital SLR camera. This class is limited to eight participants and bookings are essential.
