Annual Mind, Body and Wealth Seminar Saturday in Winter Haven

The Polk County Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc., in partnership with Polk State College, will host its annual Mind, Body and Wealth Seminar beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday in the Student Center at Polk State College’s Winter Haven Campus.

The Polk County Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc., in partnership with Polk State College, will host its annual Mind, Body and Wealth Seminar beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday in the Student Center at Polk State College’s Winter Haven Campus.
 
Throughout the morning, attendees will hear from panels of experts in their professions: Kachell George, (licensed mental health counselor of Winter Haven BayCare), will facilitate the Mind Panel, comprised of Rica Walker, (founder of Silver Lining Counseling), and Veneis Little, (LMHC and life coach). Monique Byrd of Elite Fitness, (a Certified Group Fitness Instructor and licensed Zumba and dance fitness instructor), will facilitate the Body Panel, comprised of Dr. Haldane Porteous, ( Nephrology and Internal Medicine, and a Clinical Hypertension Specialist at Gessler Clinic), and Carey Coco, (APRN, FNP-BC/Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner). Terence Cheatom, (lead engineer at GE Transportation), will facilitate the Wealth Panel, which will also include Eddie Crockett, (World Finical Group) and Bonnie Parker, (senior vice president for Citizens Bank). All will share their wisdom and expertise to raise awareness regarding issues affecting our community in the areas of mental health, physical health, and financial empowerment.
 
Free health care screenings will be provided by BayCare. In addition, Gessler Clinic and other health care and wellness professionals from across the area will also be available to address attendees’ specific health concerns and disseminate important medical information to promote active, healthy living. Numerous other exhibitors will be on hand to offer educational materials and tips on lifestyle choices and developing responsible health habits.
 
The featured seminar speaker will be LaTonya Smith, (treasurer of Healthy Start Coalition of Polk County Inc. and Joules Wellness Concept). Other guests will include Polk State College president Angela Falconetti and the director of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Valparisa Baker.
 
The event is free and open to the public and will include complimentary breakfast and lunch.
