The Philadelphia 76ers dropped their third straight game in disappointing fashion on Friday night as they let a 21 point lead slip away to fall to the Denver Nuggets 100-97. It was a disheartening way to end the trip following a thrilling 21 point rally to beat the Portland Trail Blazers to open the trip.
After Nuggets star Nikola Jokic made a circus shot to give Denver a 98-97 lead, the Sixers had a shot to win it down by one with 1.2 seconds left, but the officials called an offensive foul on Embiid and that ended any chance the Sixers had at winning the game.
After it was all over, Brown stated:
He hit a circus shot falling down. Then, I had just seen the foul call on Joel and I have no words when you see that particular play. I really have no words and I think that we give them credit. We weren’t able to find a win on the road. They’re tough at home and they made some shots.
The Sixers were outscored 35-13 by the Nuggets in the fourth as the offense bogged down and they weren’t able to find a way to close out the win. The team was also an unsightly 8-for-17 from the free-throw line and that’s another number that just will not get it done on the road.
The Sixers now need to gather themselves and get ready for a battle with the Charlotte Hornets on Sunday as they return to the Wells Fargo Center.
