Cheryl has admitted that she wouldn’t let anyone take her son Bear out of the room when he was born because she feared him being ‘swapped at birth’.

The Love Made Me Do It singer opened up about her fears with Drag Race’s RuPaul and Michelle Visage on their podcast What’s The Tee.

Admitting she wants a ‘whole household’ full of children, Cheryl recalled: ‘When I had him, first of all I wouldn’t let the doctors take him out of the room.

‘I read this story about two girls being swapped at birth and it was playing on my mind!’ she added. ‘I was so irrational…I didn’t want anyone to take him.’

Meanwhile, with RuPaul curious about how the star came up with the name Bear, she explained it originated with an apt nickname given to him by a midwife.

‘When I was in the hospital, he used to make these noises. We had specialists coming in to see what was going on, he was breathing like – quite cute but nothing worrisome,’ she explained.

‘It was just him. The midwife used to come in and say “How’s the little bear?” I didn’t have the name prior,’ she added.

Mentioning TV star Bear Grylls, she admitted: ‘I couldn’t get the nickname out of my mind.

‘We toyed with others but I didn’t want him to be the third such and such in his class. I wanted him to have a unique name.’

Bear was born to Cheryl and Liam Payne back in 2017, before the pair split in 2018.

The two of them have been keen to keep him out of the spotlight, only allowing glimpses of him on their social media, including a video which includes a clip of his voice, and a sweet snap of him donning headphones (clearly taking after his musical parents).

Speaking about motherhood, Cheryl previously told Metro.co.uk that the birth of her first child changed everything and allowed her to gain ‘genuine perspective on life’ leading her to never say never to anything again.

‘I think when I had the baby everything changed and I have genuine perspective on life and what’s real and what’s important,’ she said, ‘and a new found respect and love for what I do and how much fun it is… I have fallen in love with my career again.’
