First look: ‘Dream Hotel’ mixed-use concept announced for Buckhead

An upscale, global hotel concept is set to rise near the Buckhead Triangle with no shortage of nightlife and retail options, alongside private homes and even offices.

The Dream Hotel Group announced today its latest venture—Dream Atlanta, Buckhead—for a site along Roswell Road, near the boutique shopping district north of the Peachtree Road split.

The dual-tower development, designed by Atlanta-based Cooper Carry, will bring substantially more than a 200-key hotel, officials say.

Expect 90 private residences and five “highly activated” dining and nightlife venues, to include the latest Buckhead rooftop pool bar and lounge (with 17,000 square feet).

Elsewhere, the mixed-use build will offer 80,000 square feet of office and retail space and a “dynamic spa and wellness concept,” per a press release.

The hotel company is partnering with Atlanta veterans Cartel Properties, whose John Frasier predicted the project will be “a community and cultural hub unique to the city for guests and locals alike.

It’s expected to open in 2021.

The hotel group operates 18 locations around the world today (from Manhattan and South Beach to Phuket and Bangkok) with moe than 20 locations in various stages of development, including projects in Nashville and Dallas, per the company’s website.

The project address includes—or is neighbored by—surface parking, a low-rise building, a restaurant (Rock ‘N’ Taco), and a strip shopping center that’s home to The Big Ketch and maybe a dozen other storefronts.

We’ve asked for clarification on exactly what the hotel-anchored project will replace, and we’ll post any updates that come.

A slightly elevated view of the proposal.
