Here are some:
ROMANTIC SUNSET SPA
Fiji’s numerous vistas of crystal clear waters on clear sandy beaches are inviting indeed. Experience what it would be like to own a private island for a day; charter a helicopter or seaplane to reach the most far flung of them all, and touchdown on a remote deserted island to enjoy an intimate champagne beach picnic for two (with a friendly hermit crab for company). Indulge at one of Fiji’s lavish spas, or arrange an exquisite candlelit dinner to share with your special one. There are numerous fine dining options here. From exclusive resorts to luxurious private villas and quaint little beachside bures, watch the sunset with a perfect setting all around. Fijian hospitality is one that can’t be missed.
BORA BORA WANDERLUST
Region: Papeete Harbour, Tahiti in French Polynesia
Bora Bora may have sprung up in your wishlist when luxury and romance was on top of your agenda. Indeed, this destination offers amazing exclusivity. This celebrated island in the South Pacific is French Polynesia’s leading resort stretch. Internationally acclaimed as a honeymoon destination, couples head here to make the most of what this destination can offer. During your visit, plan a sunset cruise where the boat drops you off to a point where canoeing and rowing is apt. Later, your cruise boat shall pick you up and get you back to the vantage point of the jetty where a champagne spread awaits as you watch the setting South Pacific sun. The boat trip can also take you around the most spectacular views all over Bora Bora’s lagoon. At the end of the sunset cruise, head for a relaxing spa and top it with a delicious candle light dinner.
There seems to be a constant tussle between the town of Oia and Fira to hold the title of being the best sunset vantage point. While Oia is certainly picturesque with its narrow streets, it does have a charming appeal that makes it perfect as a wedding destination too (couples exchange vows during sunset). The sky, sea as well as the signature white houses offer a panoramic feel around sunset time as the amber tint spreads across.
On the other hand, Fira being the capital city of Santorini draws many visitors to view the sunset. Fira too is typified by white small houses and white churches with blue cupolas built on the caldera. The narrow streets have quaint markets where you can shop for souvenirs, clothes, food items and local drinks. Some eateries have decorated little terraces that work as a sunset point. Sip on some refreshing Greek wine as you see the sun go down and share your magical pictures with friends later. Compliments are sure to follow, we assure you.
TREK UP TIGER’S NEST
Region: Paro, Bhutan
The Tiger’s Nest Monastery is a sacred Buddhist site located near Paro in Bhutan. This religious and heritage site has immense spiritual significance for Buddhists. The Taktsang Monastery (also called Tiger’s Nest) got its name due to a legend. It was constructed in 1692, around the cave where Guru Rinpoche first meditated, the event that introduced Buddhism into Bhutan. There is a legend that Guru Rinpoche was carried from Tibet to this location on the back of a tigress, thus giving it the name ‘Tiger’s Nest’.
A trek here is a fabulous experience that can indeed test your fitness levels. However, once you gain the tempo with other trekkers, you will feel blessed to have headed to the top of the cliff and watch the sunset amidst the fluttering prayer flags.
