Gigi Hadid is coming for critics of her figure.

The 22-year-old model who spent the weekend strutting New York Fashion Week catwalks for Prabal Gurung and Brandon Maxwell also took the time to shutdown her haters in a series of tweets on Sunday.

Hadid has been subject recently to criticism of her body on social media. A post from December that showed off her long legs was plagued with comments like “Yikes! What happened are they making you starve?” and another saying she “must have an eating disorder!” On Saturday, a Twitter user implied Hadid’s weight loss was intentional, coinciding with, the user says, booking “high fashion gigs.”

“For those of you so determined to come up w why my body has changed over the years, you may not know that when I started @ 17 I was not yet diagnosed w/Hashimoto’s disease,” she tweeted, “those of u who called me ‘too big for the industry’ were seeing inflammation water retention due to that.”

“Over the last few years I’ve been properly medicated to help symptoms including those, as well as extreme fatigue, metabolism issues, body’s ability to retain heat, etc,” she said in a follow-up tweet, adding a holistic medical trial “helped my thyroid levels balance out.”

Over the last few years I’ve been properly medicated to help symptoms including those, as well as extreme fatigue, metabolism issues, body’s ability to retain heat, etc … I was also part of a holistic medical trial that helped my thyroid levels balance out.

Hadid opened up about having Hashimoto’s in 2016 at an event for Reebok. At the time, she said she’d been taking medication to combat the disease that affects the thyroid for two years, Elle reports.

Bella Hadid’s older sister continued to defend her frame Sunday. “Although stress excessive travel can also affect the body, I have always eaten the same, my body just handles it differently now that my health is better,” she wrote. “I may be ‘too skinny’ for u, honestly this skinny isn’t what I want to be, but I feel healthier internally and… am still learning and growing with my body everyday, as everyone is.”

The Maybelline spokesmodel also said she would not continue to justify her shape, and denied taking drugs.

“I will not further explain the way my body looks, just as anyone, with a body type that doesnt suit ur ‘beauty‘ expectation, shouldnt have to,” she tweeted. “Not to judge others, but drugs are not my thing, stop putting me in that box just because u dont understand the way my body has matured.”

In her last tweet on the subject, she asked those on social to cut down on their callous comments.

“Please, as social media users human beings in general, learn to have more empathy for others and know that you never really know the whole story,” she said. “Use your energy to lift those that you admire rather than be cruel to those u don’t.”
