Reserved Shopping Hours Added For Seniors, Other ‘At-Risk’ Groups In Santa Clarita

Santa Clarita markets have announced new shopping hours reserved for senior citizens and shoppers who have compromised immune systems or disabilities, officials said. 

In response to the coronavirus, COVID-19, outbreak, many stores have established special shopping hours for seniors and other vulnerable members of the public. 

Albertsons Companies, which also operates Vons and Pavilions, has set aside “dedicated shopping hours for senior citizens and other at-risk populations, such as pregnant women or those with compromised immune systems, who have been advised to avoid leaving home as much as possible,” according to a company statement.

Grocery stores in Santa Clarita that have announced special shopping hours for seniors and others include:

99¢ Store: Tuesdays and Thursday, 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., for seniors 65 and over, pregnant women, disabled or immunocompromised guests.

ALDI: 7 days a week, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., 65 and over.

Albertsons, Vons, Pavilions: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., seniors 65 and over, pregnant women, disabled or immunocompromised guests.

Costco: Beginning on March 24,  every Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., seniors 60 and over

Ralphs: 7 days a week,  7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., seniors 65 and over.

Stater Bros. Markets: 7 days a week, opening early at 7:45 a.m. for seniors 65 and over. 

Target: Wednesdays, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., seniors 65 and over and shoppers with medical conditions.

Trader Joe’s: Mondays, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., 65 and older.

Vallarta Supermarket: 7 days a week, 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., seniors 65 and over, pregnant women and those with disabilities.

Walgreens: Tuesdays, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., 55 and over.

Walmart: Tuesdays, 6 a.m. to 7 a.m., seniors 60 and over.

Whole Foods Market: 7 days a week, 7 a.m. to 8 a.m., seniors 60 and over.
