St. James students went shopping for the Women of Today giving tree

Children in the St. James community will have their wishes come true this Christmas thanks to St. James students.

Students from organizations at St. James High School including TEAM UP, FFA and Student Council met at Shopko last week to buy presents for the Women of Today Giving Tree.

The forty students who went shopping were allowed to spend a set amount of money and students worked together to come up with best choices for the wish lists that they had. After they were done shopping students and staff members Tiffany Carpenter, Jeremy Spitzner, Arica Connell and Steve Chapin went back to the high school to wrap the presents. This was also an opportunity for some students to learn the proper way to wrap presents. St. James Middle/High School Principal Karla Beck sees community service projects like these not only as a way to give back to the community, but also as a lifelong useful lesson for the students. “Community service and learning to be generous are two values that will carry our students far in life,” said Beck.
