Track Of The Day: Jenny Hval meditates on motherhood in ‘Accident’

With her new album The Practice of Love out this Friday, September 13th, Jenny Hval has shared one final preview. The new track, ‘Accident‘, comes with a video directed by regular collaborator Zia Anger.

As usual with a Hval track, ‘Accident‘ is loaded with ideas, this time taking the form of a sort of dialogue between friends. With hallucinogenic synths forming a web of intrigue, we hover in the scene as Jenny describes the conversation; “To her friend she finds herself saying:/ I wonder how I have managed to avoid conceiving/ you know, by accident/ so many years, so little fruit.” Eavesdropping on this comfortable conversation between friends, we feel pulled into their privacy, wanting to know more – a not uncommon feeling in a Hval piece.

Jenny Hval’s The Practice Of Love is out Friday 13th September on Sacred Bones. Her live performances are:

Fri. Sept. 20 – Sat. Sept. 21 – Oslo, NO @ Ultima Festival
Sun. Sept. 29 – London, UK @ Milton Court
