Islamabad: A video has been doing the rounds on social media that claims Pakistani cricketer-turned-politician being assaulted at his home. The video is also being shared widely on WhatsApp and other messaging platforms. However, the claim that the chief of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was assaulted is wrong. In the video that has gone viral, Imran Khan – bleeding and injured – can be seen rushed out of the area by security guards and supporters to a vehicle waiting to take him to a hospital.
Many users on Twitter asked whether the news of Imran Khan being beaten up was true. However, the said video is five-year-old and is from a campaign rally at which the former cricketer slipped and fell down 15 feet from a platform lift. He was immediately rushed to a hospital.
Meanwhile, in a relief to the PTI leader, the country’s Election Tribunal has allowed him to contest polls from Islamabad. The development came after Imran deposed before the tribunal to complete his nomination form for Islamabad constituency. Imran Khan’s nomination papers had earlier been rejected technical grounds.
